Mini-Review:
Buena Vista offers up yet another season of the Golden Girls. Die-hard fans of the series can expect more of the same from the previous seasons. This particular season did have a couple of notable guest stars. Most notable is Bob Hope in a brief role as himself. Julio Iglesias also briefly appears to pay off a running joke involving Sophia. But the most hyped guest appearance is one by Quentin Tarantino as an Elvis impersonator. They go so far as to advertise it with a big sticker on the cover of the DVD. However, upon watching it, you find that Tarantino was nothing more than an extra at the back of a group of other extra Elvis impersonators. (He’s even blocked by other guys for a significant portion of it.) His appearance is extremely brief and he’s honestly not that great of an Elvis.
There are no real bonus features to speak of other than a short entitled “Top 10 Guest Stars From Season Four”. It’s just a series of clips of the various guest stars from the season. It’s kind of a silly bonus feature considering most people will have watched the episodes and seen the cameos anyway. I guess it’s the effort that counts.
