The Shudder July 2023 lineup includes plenty of juicy content, including celebrating an annual horror festival, several Shudder originals, and a beloved classic horror movie by George A. Romero.
From July 2 through July 31, Shudder will serve as the exclusive streaming platform of Etheria. The film festival has reached its 10th edition, highlighting the latest creations in horror, comedy, science fiction, fantasy, action, and thriller genres. The peculiarity is that all these captivating films are crafted by up-and-coming female directors, earning Etheria its prestigious reputation. This year’s lineup includes works from Meg Swertlow, Jennifer Zhang, Alix Austin, Genevieve Kertesz, Zoey Martinson, Mai Nakashimi, and more.
On July 3, the streamer will add Romero’s Day of the Dead to its available content. Romero is credited with revolutionizing the zombie genre in film and is considered a significant figure in the horror genre. Day of the Dead is a perfect example of that. The 1985 film serves as the third installment in the Living Dead series, following Night of the Living Dead (1968) and Dawn of the Dead (1978). The film follows a group of scientists and military personnel who attempt to find a solution to the zombie outbreak.
Next month, Shudder will also release a couple of original films in Quicksand and Sharksploitation. Additionally, the second half of The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs season 5 will air new episodes every Friday until July 21.
