Actress Scarlett Johansson has provided an update on the Marvel Cinematic Universe project she’s producing.
Johansson portrayed Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow in the MCU for over ten years. This began in 2010 with Iron Man 2, up to 2021’s Black Widow. Previously, it was announced Johansson would produce a Marvel Studios project unrelated to her character.
At the press junket for her new movie, Asteroid City, Johansson told ComicBook.com about the status of the project.
“It is still happening,” Johansson says. “It is still happening, [but] not currently because nothing is happening right now. We’re all sort of in this holding pattern as we wait out the writers’ strike and potentially our own guild strike, and so on and so forth.”
Johansson refers to the ongoing WGA strike and the looming possibility of a Screen Actors Guild strike as reasons why the project is not currently moving forward. “Right before the strike, we were in the middle of developing it, and now everything is at a simmer,” she adds.
