With Fast X speeding into theaters on May 19, fans are already looking ahead and wondering about the Fast 11 release date. Yes, the upcoming Fast X won’t be the last Fast and Furious movie, as the series is still expanding. Here’s all you need to know about the release date of the eleventh ride of Dominic Toretto and his crew.
When is the next Fast and Furious movie coming out?
The Fast 11 release date is set for 2025, as teased by star and producer Vin Diesel.
While there is no official release date at the moment, the movie is already in development and has booked Fast X director Louis Leterrier behind the camera. Given that Fast X has yet to debut and every franchise installment is unpredictable, it’s hard to say which characters will return in Fast 11. Still, it’s hard to imagine a Fast and Furious movie without Diesel’s Dominic Toretto. Even The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift featured a cameo of the fan-favorite character, even though the story closely followed the races of Lucas Black‘s Sean Boswell.
Other Fast and Furious veterans who might return are Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Ludacris, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, John Cena, Jason Statham, and Scott Eastwood, provided their characters survive Fast X. The upcoming Fast and Furious 11 will also feature a tribute to the late Paul Walker and his character, Brian O’Conner, who has been kept in the franchise after the actor died in 2013.
If Fast 11 is the movie series’s last installment, it must feature an iconic villain. If it were up to Diesel, who has also been producing the F&F movies since the fourth installment, then Robert Downey Jr. would be the perfect match for the ultimate villain. In Diesel’s vision, Downey Jr. would portray a character who relies on AI and driverless cars, promoting a philosophy that’s the complete opposite of Dom’s.
