Martin Scorsese‘s Killers of the Flower Moon runtime has been revealed after its submission to the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.
According to Cannes Film Festival director Thierry Fremaux, the Killers of the Flower Moon runtime clocks in at a whopping 234 minutes. That equates to 3 hours and 54 minutes and is the longest movie of the acclaimed director’s career.
“I don’t know what the final length is, but let’s say that for me it’s not an issue,” said Fremaux to Variety. “All I know is that it’s only five minutes more than Once Upon a Time in America.” While there are three different cuts of Once Upon a Time in America, the European cut clocks in at 229 minutes (3 hours and 49 minutes), which lines up with other reports of the runtime.
Should this Killers of the Flower Moon runtime stand, it would become one of the longest films in American history. It joins classics such as 1962’s Lawrence of Arabia (3 hours and 42 minutes), 1959’s Ben-Hur (3 hours and 32 minutes), 1956’s The Ten Commandments (3 hours and 40 minutes), and the iconic 1939 film Gone with the Wind (3 hours and 41 minutes), just to name a few.
Killers of the Flower Moon once again reunites Scorsese with long-time collaborators Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro. Joining them are Oscar-winning actor Brendan Fraser, Jesse Plemons, Lily Gladstone, Tantoo Cardinal, Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson, Louis Cancelmi, William Belleau, Tatanka Means, Michael Abbott Jr., Pat Healy, Scott Shepherd, and more.
The film is being directed and produced by Scorsese from a screenplay he co-wrote with Eric Roth. It is a production by Apple Studios, Imperative Entertainment, and Appian Way Productions, with Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas.
