The story of the girl who fell in love with the sky is getting a home video release. The Blue Thermal Blu-ray is going to be available on March 2023. Pre-orders are now available at the Shout! Factory website.
“Arriving from Nagasaki with this wishful mantra is Tamaki Tsuru, who in high school could think only about volleyball,” reads the official synopsis from Shout! Factory. “Things don’t begin well, however, when she looks for an extracurricular club to join, proceeds to immediately damage a glider at aviation club tryouts, and ends up having to work it off. She is initially disillusioned with campus life. Then Kuramochi, the club leader and glider pilot, takes Tamaki under his wing … and from the moment he takes her up for a flight in a glider, she becomes a captive of the vast beauty of the skies.”
The Blue Thermal Blu-ray release date is Tuesday, March 14, 2023. The film is available in Japanese audio with English subtitles and runs for 103 minutes. It currently costs $21.99. The bonus features include a special interview with the director, Masaki Tachibana, and character highlights. Check out the official trailer below:
The anime movie adaptation of Blue Thermal premiered in Japan on March 4, 2022. Telecom Animation Film produced the adaptation. Masaki Tachibana (Attack on Titan Season 3, Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance) directed the film and wrote the screenplay along with Natsuko Takahashi (Blue Exorcist, Bleach). The movie’s theme song is “Blue Thermal” by SHE’S. They also performed the insert song “Beautiful Bird.”
