Ahsoka: Lars Mikkelsen Addresses Grand Admiral Thrawn Rumors

The upcoming Star Wars series Ahsoka is rumored to include the fan-favorite iconic villain Grand Admiral Thrawn. However, according to actor Lars Mikkelsen, he hasn’t been approached about playing the character whatsoever.

Mikkelsen — who voiced the character in Star Wars Rebels — recently spoke to Express.co.uk, where he was asked if he was aware of how many fans loved his performance and want to see him return. The actor acknowledged he was, and that he would certainly consider an offer to play Thrawn, but that it simply hasn’t happened as of yet.

“Well, I haven’t had the offer. But, yes, sure,” said Mikkelsen.

Mikkelsen’s denial might come as a surprise to fans, although there is no concrete evidence that he has or hasn’t been cast in the role. Recently, actor Liam Neeson was also adamant that he wouldn’t appear in the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi, only to later have a role in the series. However, Mikkelsen’s comments do cast some doubt into whether or not the actor will get the chance to reprise his role in live-action form.

For those unaware, Grand Admiral Thrawn originally appear in the Thrawn trilogy of Star Wars novels, which released in the early 1990s. The character is an imperial military leader, and faced off against many iconic Star Wars characters in the books. After the early Star Wars Expanded Universe was rebranded as Star Wars Legends, Thrawn appeared in the animated series Star Wars Rebels, where he quickly became a fan-favorite villain. Since his appearance, Thrawn has become one of the most popular and well-known of the Legends continuity characters.
