Power Rangers Icon Jason David Frank Dead at 49

Fans of Power Rangers and the mixed martial arts community are in mourning as Jason David Frank, who famously played the Green and White Ranger, has passed away.

News was first announced by former fighter Mike Bronzoulis, who wrote on his Facebook page that he was “still in shock” over the news of Frank’s death. “I’m feeling terrible he called left me a message and I took [too] long. Jason was a good friend to me and I will miss him.” A few hours later, Frank’s representative confirmed the news to TMZ that the Power Rangers star had committed suicide.

“Please respect the privacy of his family and friends during this horrible time as we come to terms with the loss of such a wonderful human being,” said Frank’s representative. “He loved his family, friends, and fans very much. He will truly be missed.”

Besides playing Tommy Oliver throughout Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and its spin-offs, Frank was also a decorated martial artist. He had an undefeated mixed martial arts record, having won one professional bout in 2010 and four amateur contests before that.

Walter Jones, who played the Black Ranger, posted a lovely tribute to his friend, which you can read below.
