Netflix announced that it will be adapting the anime Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead into a live-action film.

The move was confirmed during Netflix’s second day of its Geeked Week, which focused mainly on upcoming movies. While no official release date for the film was released, it was confirmed that actor Eiji Akaso will star in the film as Akira. Not much else was revealed for the upcoming film, but a teaser image was unveiled, showcasing Akaso biking away from a group of zombies.

“Surviving a zombie apocalypse beats being a wage slave any day! After spending years slaving away for a soul-crushing company, Akira’s life has lost its luster,” reads the official synopsis of the story. “He lives in a trash-filled apartment, his pay is abysmal, and he can’t even muster up the nerve to confess his love to his beautiful co-worker. But when a zombie apocalypse ravages his town, it gives him the push he needs to live for himself. Now Akira’s on a mission to complete all 100 items on his bucket list before he…well, kicks the bucket.”

Originally released in 2018, Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead is an ongoing manga series written by Haro Aso and illustrated by Kotaro Takata. So far, the series has produced 10 volumes and has found widespread popularity.
