Jennifer Connelly Boards American Pastoral Opposite Ewan McGregor

Lakeshore Entertainment has set Academy Award winner Jennifer Connelly to co-star in the upcoming American Pastoral. Connelly joins Ewan McGregor in the Phillip Noyce film, which is based on the Pulitzer Prize winning novel by Phillip Roth.

American Pastoral follows Seymour “Swede” Levov (McGregor), a legendary high school athlete, who grows up to marry a former beauty queen, Dawn (Connelly), and inherits his father’s business. Swede’s seemingly perfect life shatters when his daughter rebels by becoming a revolutionary and commits a deadly act of political terrorism during the Vietnam War.

“Jennifer Connelly is one of the great actresses of our time,” stated Lakeshore CEO, Tom Rosenberg. “We always wanted her to play ‘Dawn’ in American Pastoral and we’re thrilled to be working with her.”

American Pastoral‘s adapted screenplay was written by John Romano (Lincoln Laywer) with filming scheduled for March 2015 in Pittsburgh, PA. American Pastoral will be produced by Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi.

Connelly, who won an Academy Award for her performance in Ron Howard’s A Beautiful Mind, starred earlier this year in Darren Aronofsky’s Noah. She will next be seen in the Claudia Llosa’s Aloft and Shelter, the upcoming directing debut of her real-life husband, actor Paul Bettany.
