The Rising of the Shield Hero is gearing up for its second season, and ahead of the premiere in April, a new visual and trailer have been released for the series.

The latest trailer doesn’t showcase too much from the upcoming season but does cycle through some of the main characters’ perspectives before switching to some action shots of what to expect from the second season.

Alongside the trailer, a new visual for the series was also revealed and shows off many of the main characters as they stare down what looks to be an ominous creature with a large structure on its back.
The Rising of the Shield Hero is based on the light novels by Aneko Yusagi and Seira Minami, and saw its first season premiere in 2019, with a 25-episode first season.

“Geeky university student Naofumi Iwatani goes from second-class citizen to second-class hero when he’s summoned to the videogame-like kingdom of Melromarc,” reads the official synopsis for the series. “Known as the weakest of four heroes, the Shield Hero, he’s tasked with defending the world from calamity. But when Naofumi ends up betrayed and belittled from the start, will this cynic even be willing to help?”
