Elle Fanning to Headline How to Talk to Girls at Parties

Maleficent and Super 8 star Elle Fanning has taken a leading role in a big screen adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s short story, How to Talk to Girls at Parties. The Hollywood Reporter has the news, bringing word that Hedwig and the Angry Inch‘s John Cameron Mitchell will direct.

The original story was first published in 2006 in Gaiman’s Fragile Things anthology. Set in the 1970s, it follows two London boys who discover that the opposite sex is even stranger than they had originally thought. The film version, scripted by Mitchell and Philippa Goslett, expands the story, following Fanning’s extraterrestrial lead as she explores London suburbs with a schoolboy and a young punk.

Elle’s sister, Dakota, previously lent her voice to Coraline, the LAIKA-produced stop motion feature based on Gaiman’s bestseller.
