The series is an adaptation of Taffy Brodesser-Akner’s New York Times bestselling debut novel of the same name and tells the story of the recently separated Toby Fleishman (Eisenberg) who must dive into the world of dating apps to discover love again. However, during this journey, his ex-wife, Rachel, disappears, leaving him and his children alone and with no hint of where she went.
“As he balances parenting, the return of old friends, a promotion at the hospital that is a long time coming, and all the eligible women that Manhattan has to offer, he realizes that he’ll never be able to figure out what happened to Rachel until he can take a more honest look at what happened to their marriage in the first place,” reads the show’s description.
Eisenberg will star alongside Lizzy Caplan, who plays Libby, the show’s narrator and a friend of Toby’s in the series. In the series, Libby and Toby were friends who lost touch with one another over the years but reconnect following Toby’s divorce.
