There hasn’t been a proper Ghostbusters video game since the 2009 title from developer Terminal Reality (which is the game in the above picture). However, it sounds like that is about to change, given a recent quote given by a developer at Illfonic who said the team is making a game in said franchise.
As found by PCGamesN, Raphael Saadiq, Illfonic’s co-founder, went on the September 29 episode of the Questlove Supreme podcast. He was speaking about the studio’s origins around 59 minutes into the podcast and then said the team had made a Friday the 13th game as well as a Predator game. There’s an odd cut in the podcast right after that where it jumps into the middle of another sentence after mentioning Predator, insinuating that something had to be snipped out. Regardless, then at 1:01:40, when prompted about how many games Illfonic has made, he stated that they are “working on Ghostbusters right now.”

Illfonic has not officially revealed this alleged game as it has only announced that it is still working on Arcadegeddon and DLC and updates for Predator: Hunting Grounds for the time being. However, it seems plausible, given the circumstances around it.
Sony and Illfonic appear to have a decent relationship, given how Predator and Arcadegeddon are only on PlayStation consoles and how Friday the 13th and Predator were both part of PlayStation Plus’ monthly games; the latter of which was just part of last month’s lineup. Sony also owns Ghostbusters and there is a new Ghostbusters film coming out in the near future. Illfonic, while none of its games have been critical darlings, seems to be attracted to making games based on licenses (and ones that were popular in the 1980s, at that). Illfonic may have to do some rumorbusting after Saadiq’s comments, but there is evidence pointing to this not needing such treatment.
