Dubbed Rivals, this new mode for the highly popular Legends multiplayer mode in Ghost of Tsushima will act as a competitive mode for players to test their skills against each other. It’s not a PvP mode, but rather one where players will compete against each other by trying to complete various objectives in the fastest time possible. Along the way, they can also sabotage opponents to secure victory faster.

Alongside Rivals mode, Sucker Punch is also adding Mastery Challenges, which is for those who want more from Legends’ endgame. Players unlock Mastery Challenges by binding gear that’s level 110 to a class. The gear can then be leveled to 120 and more perks, abilities, and techniques can be unlocked along the way. This feature is launching with Rivals on September 3.

When Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut was released, some other changes were introduced into the Legends mode. Survival sessions will be shorter and there will be new weekly Survival Nightmare variants. Those who have finished Jin’s story in New Game Plus will also get additional cosmetics. It’s worth noting that these cosmetics that are earned during the campaign can’t be earned in the paid version of Legends since that package contains just the multiplayer.
