After five years since her recurring role in Marvel’s Agent Carter series, Bridget Regan is officially jumping into another superhero universe in the form of The CW’s Javicia Leslie-led Batwoman. According to Variety, the Jane the Virgin alum has been tapped to portray the role of fan-favorite DC villain, Pamela Isley/Poison Ivy in the upcoming third season of the Arrowverse series.
This marks the latest live-action version of the eco-terrorist villain, who was first famously portrayed by Uma Thurman in the 1997 film Batman & Robin. The character was also previously played by Clare Foley, Maggie Geha, and Peyton List in Fox’s Gotham series. Poison Ivy is also currently a main character in the hit animated Harley Quinn series and is being voiced by Lake Bell.
Batwoman is currently led by Javicia Leslie as Ryan Wilder, the one who took up the mantle of the Scarlet Knight from Kate Kane. Season 2 had concluded its run last June, where it also debuted Wallis Day (Krypton) as the new Kate Kane following the surprising exit of Ruby Rose.
Regan’s Poison Ivy will appear as a recurring guest star. Her character description reads: “Poison Ivy, a.k.a Pamela Isley, is a former botany student of Gotham University described as a passionate, brilliant scientist with a mind for changing the world for the better. But her plans shifted when she was experimented on by a colleague, injected with various plant toxins which turned her into the infamous Batman villain Poison Ivy. With a formidable power coursing through her veins, Pamela used her powers to do what she thought was right, even if Batman and those closest to her disagreed with her dangerous methods. Now effectively wiped off the board for years, Batwoman and the Bat Team must prepare themselves for Poison Ivy to return with a vengeance.”
Her casting comes after the recent additions of Nick Creegan, and Victoria Cartagena, who have been cast for the respective series regular roles of Marquis Jet, and Renee Montoya, which will be a different iteration from Cartegena’s previous Gotham role. In addition, Robin Given has also been cast to join the third season as Jada Jet.
