During the game-changing season finale of Loki, Marvel Studios has finally confirmed that the Tom Hiddleston-led series is indeed returning for a second season. This marks the first Marvel Studios scripted series to officially receive a Season 2 greenlight. Further details about its return date and characters are being kept under wraps.
Even before Loki had made its debut last June, rumors about its early second season renewal have actually been circulating online since last year due to a listing posted on Production Weekly where it stated that production on Loki Season 2 is reportedly set to begin next year in January. It’s unclear whether or not the said filming start date would still be the studio’s current target date, given that the series’ debut has been delayed a few times since the listing was first posted.

Set after the events of Avengers: Endgame, Loki features the God of Mischief as he gets arrested by the Time Variance Authority, a bureaucratic organization that exists outside of time and space, due to the damage he had done with the timeline. The series stars MCU vet Tom Hiddleston as the titular character, Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie, Owen Wilson as Mobius, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Judge Renslayer, and Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15. It also features appearances from Sasha Lane, Cailey Fleming, Richard E. Grant, DeObia Oparei, Jack Veal, and Jaime Alexander.
