A new Space Jam: A New Legacy TV spot for Warner Bros. Pictures’ upcoming sports comedy sequel to 1996’s Space Jam has surfaced online during yesterday’s 2021 MTV TV and Movie Awards. The video features some new footage that continues to highlight the return of the Looney Tunes Squad including Granny showing off her old school moves against Damian Lillard’s Chronos. The Lebron James-led film is scheduled to make its debut on July 16 in theaters and on HBO Max. Check out the video in the player below!

In addition, during a recent interview with Access Hollywood, when asked if fans would be seeing the original film’s lead star Michael Jordan in Space Jam 2, Don Cheadle unexpectedly confirmed that “Michael Jordan is in the movie.” However, he quickly teased that the sports superstar’s appearance won’t be “in the way you’d expect it.”

Space Jam: A New Legacy will feature LeBron James as he portrays a fictionalized version of himself. The film will center around him and his young son Cole, who has aspirations of becoming a video game developer, finding themselves trapped in a digital world by a rogue algorithm named Al-G Rhythm. Now, the NBA superstar must lead the Tunes Squad including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Lola Bunny, and the rest of the undisciplined Tunes to victory over Al-G’s digitized players on the court to return home and save the world.
James leads an ensemble roster that includes Star Trek: Discovery star Sonequa Martin-Green as his wife Kamiyah, MCU alum Don Cheadle as Al-G, and Zendaya as Lola Bunny. They will be joined by Jim Cummings, Bob Bergen, Gabriel Iglesias, Jeff Bergman,and Xosha Roquemore along with NBA and WNBA stars, Portland Trailblazers’ Damian Lillard, New Orleans Pelicans’ Anthony Davis, Golden State Warriors’ Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, Los Angeles Lakers’ Kyle Kuzma, Phoenix Suns’ Chris Paul, Phoenix Mercury’s Diana Taurasi and Los Angeles Sparks’ siblings Chiney and Nneka Ogwumike.

Space Jam: A New Legacy is directed by Malcolm D. Lee (Girls Trip, The Best Man) from a screenplay written by Juel Taylor, Tony Rettenmaier, Keenan Coogler, and Terence Nance. In addition to starring, James produces the film alongside Black Panther writer/director Ryan Coogler, Maverick Carter, and Duncan Henderson. Executive producers are Sev Ohanian, Zinzi Coogler, Allison Abbate, Jesse Ehrman, Jamal Henderson, Spencer Beighley, Justin Lin, Nance, and Ivan Reitman all executive produce.
