Exclusive: Limbo Clip – Were You Famous?

ComingSoon.net is excited to premiere an exclusive Limbo clip from the comedic drama, which Focus Features releases in theaters today, April 30, 2021.

Written and directed by Ben Sharrock (Pikadero), Limbo is described as “is a wry and poignant observation of the refugee experience,” by its official synopsis. “Set on a fictional remote Scottish island where a group of new arrivals await the results of their asylum claims, it centers on Omar, a young Syrian musician who is burdened by his grandfather’s oud, which he has carried all the way from his homeland.” It was recently nominated for two British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards for Best British Film and Best Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer.

It’s a personal subject matter for Sharrock, who previously worked for an NGO in refugee camps in southern Algeria and lived in Damascus prior to the Syrian civil war. The network of friends that he formed during this time is what inspired the film as he wanted to reflect on the complexity of people moving across borders.

Limbo stars Amir El-Masry (Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker), Vikash Bhai (The Stranger), Ola Orebiyi (Cherry), Kwabena Ansah (Enterprice), Sidse Babett Knudsen (Westworld) and Kais Nashif (Tel Aviv on Fire). While Irune Gurtubai and Angus Lamont produce the feature.
