Gossip Girl was one of the most popular television series of the 2000s, dominating the airwaves during its run. With the Gossip Girl reboot coming to HBO Max, it’s set to do the same once again. One of the stars of the new iteration, Thomas Doherty, recently discussed the original show.
In a discussion with Interview Magazine, Doherty, who is set to play Max Wolfe in the upcoming reboot, was asked if he was a fan of the original. Doherty said he didn’t watch the show when it was initially airing, but he did come to appreciate it.
“No, I never watched it,” he said, “I think an old girlfriend was obsessed with it, and so I think I watched the last couple of episodes. But weirdly, I was filming in Georgia in 2019, and I was quite bored in my hotel, so I started watching Gossip Girl. It was really good.”

Doherty also discussed his relationship with fashion since it is such a huge component of Gossip Girl.
“I wear them,” Doherty joked. “I don’t know if I kind of care for them too much. I like clothes. It’s just too much now. There’s too many clothes. It’s like a season every week. It’s too hard to keep up. What I really love right now is what Harry Styles is wearing.”
