NCIS: Hawaii will be the first NCIS franchise to feature a female lead. As for NCIS: Los Angeles, this will be the 13th season for the long-running program, with no signs of stopping.

With the return of NCIS: Los Angeles official, stars LL Cool J and Chris O’Donnell will both be returning as well, alongside executive producer/showrunner R. Scott Gemmill. NCIS: Hawaii will reportedly feature the first female Special Agent in Charge of NCIS Pearl Harbor, as well as her team as the group investigates a variety of high-stakes crimes involving the military, national security, and Hawaii itself. The series will be created and executive produced by NCIS: New Orleans executive producers/showrunner Christopher Silver and Jan Nash, with SEAL Team writer-producer Matt Bosack joining the series as well.

The NCIS series has been an extremely lucrative one for CBS, as the original NCIS series is still going strong in its 19th season. Its most recent endeavor, NCIS: New Orleans, recently finished its seven-season run, and will presumably be replaced by the upcoming NCIS: Hawaii.
