While American audiences are still waiting to watch the series adaptation of the Anthony Horowitz novel character, Sony Pictures Television and Eleventh Hour Films are already preparing a second season of Alex Rider, according to Deadline.

The series, created by Guy Burt (Bletchley Circle) centers on the titular British teenager, who has been trained as a spy since childhood and is recruited by Department of Special Operations, a subdivision of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6), to infiltrate a controversial corrective academy for the wayward offspring of the ultra-rich. The White Queen and Strike Back: Vendetta star Otta Farrant leads the cast as Rider.
The first season of the series was fully financed by Sony Pictures TV’s International Production and Worldwide Distribution divisions without any network or streaming platform lined up, with Amazon signing on in May to air the project on Prime Video in the United Kingdom beginning June 4. The series has yet to air in the US, with Sony reporting that they are close to finding a home for it in the states, Australia and China.
At the moment, it hasn’t been confirmed whether Sony will once again finance the series alone or whether they will seek out a co-production partner for a second season, though the studio is reportedly looking to begin production later this year.
