Following the critical success of her directorial debut film The Light of the Moon in 2017, Variety reports that filmmaker Jessica M. Thompson has officially set her next directing project with Screen Gems‘ forthcoming horror thriller film titled The Bride. The film will be produced by The Curse of La Llorona‘s Emile Gladstone.

Before she took on the director’s seat, Thompson had first worked as an editor on films such as 419, Love, Marilyn, Across the Pond, The Abominable Crime, and Watchers of the Sky. She got her big break with the drama film The Light of the Moon which won the audience award for Best Narrative Feature at the SXSW Festival. Written, directed, produced, and edited by Thompson, the 2017 film starred Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s Stephanie Beatriz as she portrayed the role of a successful woman whose life turns upside down when she is sexually assaulted.
