The reunited pair will star as two cast members of a West End theatre production which got suspended due to the ongoing global pandemic. Staged will follow the cast as they try to keep rehearsals on track during lockdown, with their efforts often bordering on the absurd and the humorous.
“It’s so important that the BBC provides moments of humour and light relief and this mischievous idea shows what great sports Michael and David are.” BBC director of content Charlotte Moore said in statement (via Deadline).
The series will also feature Lucy Eaton along with Tennant and Sheen’s real-life partners, actress Georgia Tennant (Merlin) and Swedish actress Anna Lundberg. Surprise guest-stars are also expected to appear in the comedy series.
