Courtney Eaton, who makes her big screen debut in George Miller’s upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road, has taken the female lead in Alex Proyas’ Gods of Egypt. The Hollywood Reporter today brings word that she’ll join Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Geoffrey Rush, Gerard Butler and Brenton Thwaites in the fantasy epic.
Proyas is directing from an original screenplay by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama. The film tells the story of a common thief teaming with Gods on a magical quest. Coster-Waldau is playing Horus, God of the Sky, who teams with Hathor, the Goddess of Love, and the human thief to avenge the death of his father, Osiris.
Eaton will play a slave girl and the love interest of Thwaites’ character, the thief.
Although Gods of Egypt does not yet have a release date, Mad Max: Fury Road is slated to hit theaters May 15, 2015.
