Mandatory Streamers: Disney+ Launches The Mandalorian

The Mandalorian, Series Premiere: After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic. Pedro Pascal will star as a lone Mandalorian gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy and will be joined by Gina Carano who plays Cara Dune, a former Rebel Shock Trooper, having trouble re-integrating herself into society, and Carl Weathers as Greef, a man who heads a guild of bounty hunters that hires The Mandalorian for a specific job. The series, and Disney+, will launch on Tuesday, November 12.

The Man in the High Castle, Season 4 Premiere: The final season of the series will be rocked by war and revolution. The Resistance becomes a full-blown rebellion, driven by Juliana Crain’s (Alexa Davalos) visions of a better world. A new Black insurgent movement emerges to fight the forces of Nazism and imperialism. As empires teeter, Chief Inspector Takeshi Kido (Joel De La Fuente) will find himself torn between his duty to his country and the bonds of family. Meanwhile, Reichsmarschall John Smith (Rufus Sewell) will be drawn towards the portal the Nazis have built to another universe and the tantalizing possibility of stepping through a gateway to the path not taken. Season 4 will begin streaming on Friday, November 15.

The Crown, Season 3 Premiere: Season three of The Crown will take place during 1964 and 1972 and is expected to cover major events in British history, like Princess Margaret’s affair with Roddy Llewellyn, Margaret Thatcher’s political rise, and the introduction of Camilla Parker Bowles. The third season will also see the entire cast aging up, including Tobias Menzies taking over for Matt Smith who played Prince Philip during the first two seasons. Prince Charles and Princess Anne will also grow older with Josh O’Connor and Erin Doherty filling in those roles. Gillian Anderson will play Margaret Thatcher with Emerald Fennell portraying Camilla Parker Bowles. The new season will debut on Sunday, November 17.

Ray Donovan, Season 7 Premiere: Season 7 of the Golden Globe-winning drama finds Ray (Liev Schreiber) working to be the man his family needs him to be. While he makes progress with Dr. Amiot (Alan Alda), there are dangers from the past that require the Ray Donovan of old. Between NYC mayor Ed Feratti (Zach Grenier), an unrelenting NYPD officer hunting for the truth and clients old and new, Ray struggles to find the balance between fixing for clients and fixing himself. And when Feratti’s corruption brings a piece of Mickey’s past (Jon Voight) back to New York, Ray is forced to seek answers to long-buried questions. Meanwhile, Bunchy (Dash Mihok), hoping for a fresh start, bunks in Ray’s apartment and works stocking shelves at a pharmacy. Terry (Eddie Marsan) is offered a new, unconventional healing opportunity. Daryll (Pooch Hall) struggles to figure out where he fits into the Donovan clan. Bridget (Kerris Dorsey) and Smitty (Graham Rogers) face the realities of married life. Season 7 will premiere on Sunday, November 17, and will be available to stream on the network’s website.

Renewals

Titans, Season 3: After more than two months since the series’ second season premiere in September, DC Universe has officially renewed its superhero series Titans for a third season, which is scheduled to debut in the fall of 2020. New episodes of the series second season air every Friday.

Mayans M.C., Season 3: FX has renewed their Sons of Anarchy spinoff for a third season, set to premiere sometime in fall 2020. The renewal also comes in the wake of series co-creator Kurt Sutter’s dismissal from the network, though it had been previously reported that co-creator and executive producer Elgin James would serve as the sole showrunner moving forward.

Eli Roth’s History of Horror, Season 2: After more than a year since its premiere, AMC has officially renewed the documentary series Eli Roth’s History of Horror for a six-episode second season which will also be making its debut on Shudder.  Hosted by horror filmmaker Eli Roth, Season 2 will now be featuring episodes focusing on monsters, evil children, witches, body horror, houses of Hell, and Eli’s Terrifying Twelve. The first season is available to stream on AMC’s site.
