A Good Day to Die Hard star Jai Courtney has taken roles in two major actor-turned-director helmed projects. Deadline reports that he’ll star in both Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken and Russell Crowe’s The Water Diviner.
Unbroken, which also stars Jack O’Connell, Domhnall Gleeson, Finn Wittrock and Garrett Hedlund, follows the epic drama of the life of Louis “Louie” Zamperini and is adapted from Laura Hillenbrand’s book, “Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption.” Courtney will play Hugh Cup Cuppernell, a pilot who fights alongside O’Connell’s Zamperini.
The Water Diviner, meanwhile, stars Crowe and Olga Kurylenko. It takes place in 1919 where, as the stench of cordite that has engulfed the world thins, an Australian father arrives at Gallipoli to recover the bodies of his sons, only to find hope where he thought there was none. In that film, Courtney will play Lieutenant-Colonel Cecil Hilton, an officer in charge of identifying the bodies in the aftermath of Galliopli.
