Breaking Bad Actor Confirms Return for El Camino

SPOILERS AHEAD! 

The cast for the upcoming El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie is mostly still under wraps, though we know that Aaron Paul will return as Jesse Pinkman with his previous cohorts Matt Jones as Badger and Charles Baker as Skinny Pete also returning. The THR cover story on the film revealed that it features “more than 10 familiar characters from the show,” and one more has just been revealed in a new interview.

Speaking with ET Canada, Jonathan Banks confirmed that he will return as Mike Ehrmantraut for the upcoming film. The actor whispered “Yes,” when asked if he would appear, saying: “They’ll hit me in the head for saying this, but yes, why not? None of those guys hit very hard anyway.”

As fans of the series know, Banks’ character died in the fifth season of the series, leaving his appearance in the upcoming film to be flashbacks. Banks also appears in the prequel series Better Call Saul.

Written and directed by series creator Vince Gilligan El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie is described as follows: “In the wake of his dramatic escape from captivity, Jesse must come to terms with his past in order to forge some kind of future.”

The Emmy Award-winning series aired on AMC before seasons were later made available on Netflix. Vince Gilligan credited the streamer for its contribution to the show’s success in his 2013 Emmy acceptance speech, saying that he thinks Netflix helped keep the show on the air.

AMC’s Breaking Bad ended its critically acclaimed five-season run with a finale that brought in a series record 10.3 million viewers. It was followed by the prequel series Better Call Saul, focused on Bob Odenkirk’s small-time lawyer Jimmy McGill, which just got renewed for a fifth season.

The film will be available for streaming on October 11, exclusively on Netflix.
