Sandler-Barrymore Rom-Com Gets New Title Plus a Bridesmaids Star

Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore’s third romantic comedy together, formerly called Blended, has been gearing up for its May 23, 2014 release, but it’s going to go out under a different title and with a different actress playing the role formerly played by Chelsea Handler.

The new title for Sandler and Barrymore’sromantic comedy following 1998’s The Wedding Singer and 2004’s 50 First Dates is “The Familymoon” and the cast will be joined by Wendi McLendon-Covey of Bridesmaids fame following the departure of Handler.

Sandler and Barrymore play a couple whose bad blind date lands them at a family resort with the children from their previous marriages with Joel McHale (“Community”) playing Barrymore’s former husband and McLendon-Covey playing her childless best friend.

McLendon-Covey got attention playing Rita in the raunchy comedy hit Bridesmaids and just finished work on a number of other movies including Think Like a Man Too, Tyler Perry’s Single Moms Club, the Christmas comedy A Friggin’ Christmas Miracle and others, although she’s currently gearing up to start production on August 5 for a television show for Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions called “The Goldbergs.”
