The Art of Self-Defense trailer: Jesse Eisenberg stars in new black comedy
Bleecker Street has released the official trailer for their upcoming dark comedy The Art of Self-Defense, highlighting how Jesse Eisenberg’s Casey becomes obsessed with learning karate and puts his full trust in his mysterious sensei. The film will have its theatrical release on July 12. Check out the video below!

Written and directed by Riley Stearns, The Art of Self-Defense is a dark comedy set in the world of karate.The film centers on Casey (Jesse Eisenberg), who is attacked at random on the street and enlists in a local dojo led by a charismatic and mysterious Sensei, in an effort to learn how to defend himself. What he uncovers is a sinister world of fraternity, violence and hypermasculinity and a woman fighting for her place in it. Casey undertakes a journey, both frightening and darkly funny, that will place him squarely in the sights of his enigmatic new mentor.
Th film also stars Alessandro Nivola (American Hustle) as Sensie and Imogen Poots (Fright Night) as Anna. It is produce by Andrew Kortschak, Walter Kortshack, Cody Ryder, and Stephane Whonsetler. The Art of Self-Defense had its world premiere last March at the 2019 South by Southwest Film Festival.

Eisenberg notable film credits include: Adventureland, The Social Network, Now You See Me, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. He will next be seen reprising his role as Columbus in the upcoming sequel Zombieland: Double Tap opposite Woody Harrelson, Abigail Breslin and Emma Stone.
