Rosamund Pike has joined the cast of David Fincher’s Gone Girl, says a story at The Hollywood Reporter. She’ll play the female lead, Amy Dunne, the wife of Ben Affleck’s character.
Set up at 20th Century Fox, Gone Girl is based on Gillian Flynn’s 2012 novel, officially described as follows:
On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amys fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick Dunnes clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick Dunne isnt doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wifes head, but hearing from Amy through flashbacks in her diary reveal the perky perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge. Pike, who made her big screen debut in the James Bond adventure Die Another Day, has recently starred in films like Jack Reacher and Wrath of the Titans. She can very soon be seen in Edgar Wright’s conclusion to his “Cornetto Trilogy,” The World’s End, hitting theaters domestically August 23.
