Neil Burger’s Voyagers Lands Ensemble Cast Led By Colin Farrell

After being acquired by AGC Studios in January, Neil Burger (Divergent)’s upcoming sci-fi thriller Voyagers has begun casting and has already set an ensemble roster that will include Colin Farrell (Dumbo), Tye Sheridan (X-Men: Dark Phoenix), Lily-Rose Depp (Yoga Hosers) and Fionn Whitehead (Dunkirk), according to Deadline.

The film, which Burger also wrote, follows a group of 30 kids who are sent on a generation-spanning mission to a distant planet to help both colonize and populate it. However, after the lone adult who is along for the ride to supervise the young colonizers dies mysteriously, the kids quickly start to descend into warring tribal factions on an uncharted planet. It’s basically Lord of the Flies, but in space.

AGC Studios will finance the project, as well as produce it alongside Basil Iwanyk and Brendon Boyea via Thunder Road Films and Burger’s Nota Bene Productions banner. Greg Shapiro (The Hurt Locker) will serve as executive producer.

Casting for the film is still underway, with Mudbound‘s Kelvin Harrison, Game of Thrones‘ Isaac Hempstead Wright, Roxanne Roxanne‘s Chanté Adams and Bizaardvark‘s Madison Hu all in discussions to star in the project. Production is currently set to begin in Romania in June. The plan is to introduce the project to the European Film Market in Berlin in February, which is all the rage this time of year.
