“Harry Potter” stars Brendan Gleeson (Gangs of New York, Safe House) and David Thewlis (War Horse) have both signed on to join the cast of the upcoming horror-thriller Eliza Graves, Deadline reports. They’ll star opposite the previously announced Kate Beckinsale, Jim Sturgess, Anthony Hopkins and Ben Kingsley in the Brad Anderson (Session 9, The Call) film.
Loosely based on “The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether,” a short story by Edgar Allen Poe, the film will center on a Harvard Medical School graduate (Sturgess) who takes a job at an insane asylum, unaware of the fact that it has been taken over by its occupants.
Joseph Gangemi (Fear Itself, Wind Chill) provided the screenplay.
Gleeson recently appeared in Robert Redford’s The Company You Keep while Thewlis can be seen coming up (along with Hopkins) in RED 2.
Shooting on Eliza Graves is expected to begin next week with Oren Peli (Paranormal Activity) among the project’s producers.
