Garrett Hedlund Joins William Monaghan’s Mojave

Oscar-winning writer William Monaghan (The Departed) is moving forward with his second feature as a director with the thriller Mojave, although the cast is shuffling around as TRON: Legacy‘s Garrett Hedlund is replacing the exceedingly busy Australian actor Jason Clarke, who just appeared in last week’s blockbuster, Baz Lurhmann’s The Great Gatsby.

Hedlund will star opposite the equally prolific Oscar Isaac, playing a suicidal artist who escapes into the desert after an existential crisis, only to encounter a “doppelganger-like antagonist in the form of a brilliant, homicidal drifter.” The latter would be played by Isaac and we’re not sure if those two actors really look that much alike but maybe they’re closer in size if nothing else.

No word on when Monaghan will start filming from his own script or if there are other characters involved beyond this desert two-hander, but it’s being produced by the Atlas Independent branch of Charles Roven’s Atlas Entertainment, so the budget will probably be under $10 million.

If you want to see if there’s any resemblance between the two actors on the project, then you can see the last announcement about Oscar Isaac with a pic by clicking here.
