Sarah Gadon is just about set to take the female lead in Gary Shore’s Dracula, Variety reports. She’d star opposite leading man Luke Evans in the title role.
Said to explore the origin of the character, Dracula weaves vampire mythology with the true history of Prince Vlad the Impaler. It seeks to depict Dracula as a flawed hero in a tragic love story set in a dark age of magic and war.
Gadon is best known for her work with David Cronenberg, appearing in both A Dangerous Method and Cosmopolis. She can next be seen in Denis Villeneuve’s An Enemy opposite Jake Gyllenhaal.
Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless scripted the most recent draft of the screenplay and Michael De Luca will serve as producer.
Dracula is scheduled for release August 8, 2014.
