Michael Yo Developing Autobiographical Sitcom for FOX

Comedian Michael Yo is currently developing a multi-camera sitcom based on his life for FOX, per a report from Deadline. Yo will pen the script with Nick Adams (Bojack Horseman), which will center on a young couple, who are not meeting the expectations of Yo’s character’s parents. Things get worse when the PhD-having/ex-Military African American father and Asian mother show up to help take care of the couple’s newborn baby.

The as-yet-untitled sitcom hails from CBS Studios, and will be executive produced by Yo, Adams, and Andy Fickman via his Oops Doughnuts company.

Yo, who recently became a father in real life, came up with the idea for the sitcom after his overbearing parents came to visit him and their new grandchild. He discusses this life event in his upcoming Netflix special, Blasian, which premieres on November 27th.

The comedian has an extensive history with TV and radio. He hosts The Michael Yo Show on Sirius XM, produced by Entertainment Weekly. He also has his Bravo show Play By Play and is a regular co-host of The Insider, as well as a guest host on The Talk. You can also find him as a regular panelist on Chelsea Handler’s late night talk show Chelsea Lately.
